Our Mission

The Golden Warrior Project is a 501(c)3 created to promote diversity, retention, and professional success in the Officer Corp through community outreach, and the cultivation of mentoring relationships for soon to be and current underrepresented minority Officers.

Black and Hispanics combined make up less than 20% of the Officer Corp.

How It Works

Our Vision

Our goal is to expand our mentorship and support programs to include all branches of the military, with a focus on fostering the growth and development of minority members.

Co-Founders 1LT Patrick Brundidge and 1LT Roxana Pozos met during a Joint Field Training Exercise at Fort Liberty, representing North Carolina A&T’s Aggie Battalion and UNC Charlotte’s 49er Battalion, respectively. They believed that the true strength of any organization lies in its diversity. Upon graduation, 1LT Brundidge became an Infantry Officer, one of the least diverse branches in the Army, being one of only four Black Officers in his Infantry Basic Officer Course class of 120 graduates. A disparity that is seen across the Officer Corps, where African Americans make up nearly 24% of the Army’s enlisted force but only 10% of its officers. To address this issue, 1LT Brundidge and 1LT Pozos founded the Golden Warrior Project, promoting knowledge transfer and resources for underrepresented minority officers. As General (Ret.) Michael X. Garrett stated, “Diversity and inclusion within the military are vital strategic assets that keep our force strong and set our Nation apart on the global stage.”
